Nancy Sherman is not only a professor of Stoicism but specifically an expert on Stoicism in the military, writing the book Stoic Warriors: The Ancient Philosophy Behind the Military Mind. She is a Professor of Philosophy at Georgetown University and holds a Ph.D.

She has written or contributed to seven different books, including "Afterwar: Healing the Moral Wounds of our Soldiers," published in 2015. She has also written over 60 articles on the subjects of ethics, military ethics, the history of moral philosophy, ancient ethics, the emotions, moral psychology, and psychoanalysis.
